West Ham show ‘signs of interest’ in player – Work needed to make transfer happen

By Sean Lunt

West Ham United will need to work hard to sign Salernitana forward Boulaye Dia this summer, with him more than happy where he is for the time being.

That’s according to Corriere dello Sport, who cover the player today as he continues to impress on loan at the Serie A club.

Dia joined Salernitana on loan from Villarreal in the summer and has proven to be one of the coups of that window, bagging 15 goals and six assists in 30 league games so far.

His latest three goals came via a hattrick in the 3-3 draw with Fiorentina, with that treble taking him to five goals in his last three games and further bolstering his already growing reputation.

West Ham are one of the sides thought to be interested in him, with it recently reported that it would take €20m to sign him and the player wants a move to the Premier League.

Corriere say otherwise, though, insisting that it will now take between €30m and €35m to secure Dia’s signature and even then, it won’t just be a case of putting that money up.

Alongside battling off competition from the likes of Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan, the latter of whom have already made ‘official steps’, they also have to convince the striker.

A move this summer is not an ‘obsession’ for the player by any means as he has ‘fallen in love’ with Salerno and has a relationship of esteem and affection with the club, director Morgan de Sanctis and manager Paulo Sousa.

Thus, there is nobody pushing for a transfer at the moment, although Salernitana do have a balance sheet to consider and that will factor into it.

They know that there is a sale there to be made, particularly as West Ham are one of the sides to have shown ‘signs of interest’. It remains to be seen if they can offer the money required or convince Dia to move.

West Ham eye summer transfer raid for Manchester City duo

By Toby Cudworth, Graeme Bailey

West Ham United remain interested in signing Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City, 90min understands, and are also eyeing team-mate Kyle Walker.

The 27-year-old joined City from Leeds last summer, penning a six-year contract, but has made just eight substitute appearances under Pep Guardiola - the equivalent of 3% of the minutes available to him this season.

A shoulder injury did rule Phillips out of action for just shy of two months prior to the World Cup, but Rodri's place at the base of midfield hasn't really come under threat at any point.

90min revealed at the end of March that Phillips is contemplating his future at City, who are chasing a third successive Premier League title under Guardiola. West Ham are known admirers of Phillips and made a cheeky bid to sign him towards the end of the 2022 January transfer window - when he was still a Leeds player.

That bid was turned down, as was an offer for team-mate Raphinha, but Phillips has remained on West Ham's radar despite going on to join City.

Guardiola was asked about Phillips' future prior to City's Premier League clash with Leeds, where he put the emphasis on the player to prove that he wants to stay at the Etihad.

"It depends on the players," Guardiola said. "At the end we're here, I try to be honest with the questions and my feelings.

"My feelings sometimes change. But at the end it belongs to the players, they have to convince themselves and the team and not because I say something. Teams change a lot and players for previous seasons who were incredibly important but this season less important. It's how they perform, many things can happen."

90min understands that West Ham are making their interest in Phillips known, as they prepare for bids to come in this summer for captain Declan Rice.

Arsenal and Chelsea are both interested in signing the 24-year-old, who the Hammers value at around £100m, while City themselves have renewed their interest in the event of Phillips, Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva departing.

West Ham have also made noises about City full-back Kyle Walker, who is no longer a regular starter under Guardiola. The Spaniard recently said that the former Tottenham star 'cannot play' in his revamped tactical system - which demands full-backs to invert and play in central areas - and has fallen behind John Stones and Manuel Akanji in the pecking order.

City have also been hugely impressed by the emergence of Rico Lewis, who they are preparing to tie down to a new contract, and that could open the door for Walker to move on this summer.

One stumbling block could prove to be Walker's excessive pay packet, but sources have told 90min that West Ham are monitoring his situation. Aston Villa and Sheffield United, both former clubs of Walker, have also been linked.

West Ham battle Palace, Leicester as quality Bournemouth star nears free-transfer exit

Bournemouth are facing a battle to hang on to the services of Jefferson Lerma this summer, TEAMtalk understands.

The 28-year-old Colombian midfielder is out-of-contract on June 30 and eligible for a free-transfer move away. The Cherries are keen for the 33-time international to stay and are keen to extend his stay at the Vitality.

Indeed, he has been a virtual ever present for Bournemouth since arriving from Levante in summer 2018. Moving for a club-record €30m, he has made 180 appearances for the club. Three of those seasons have been in the Premier League, with a further two in the Championship.

However, with his deal due to expire this summer, we can reveal that Lerma is exploring his options.

Indeed, sources have told us that Ligue 1 duo Nice and Lille are keen on his signature. There is also interest from Spain with Real Betis and Villarreal both exploring possible deals to bring him back to Spain.

But there are options in England too. And we can reveal that West Ham – in the market for a Declan Rice successor – are among those keen.

They are far from the only Premier League side, keen, however. And Crystal Palace and Fulham are also looking to lure Lerma to London this summer.

In addition, both Leicester and Nottingham Forest all also keen. Their prospects, however, lie entirely on Premier League survival.

And while he could yet be convinced to stay by Gary O’Neil, it seems Lerma’s time at the Vitality Stadium will be coming to an end this summer.

Should he depart, he will become the second Cherries star to leave on a free. Indeed, they have already lost Jordan Zemura, who has agreed a move to Udinese.

Thanks Alan

If, as muted, Arteta "only has about £150M to spend", and is "looking at bringing 5 or 6 players", he can forget all about Declan. It's just a clumsy attempt to price crumble WHU... we should tell him to jog on until he has the £100M+ reqd to buy the boy. AND, we have to be ready to play hardball when Dec and his old man start bleating as well - if we get any BS, just take him off the market and invoke the extra season option, then sit tight until he comes down out of the tree. We can only sell him once, and we want the full wedge for him.

I reckon we should say "Offers around £120M" and just let the top few interested clubs battle it out. Even then, it will depend on Declan and WHU both agreeing to any deal.

Oh, and we want the MONEY, not bloody ridiculously overvalued cast-offs and crocks to make up the numbers.
